Preliminary Task: What I have learnt

From our Preliminary Task we have learnt that making a music video requires many more shots, we made sure we filmed the same line of the song in many different ways in order to have many different options to choose from, and although we knew we would need to do this, I had underestimated how many different shots and angles are needed, as when editing finding the right shot which helps the music video flow can be hard if there are only a limited number of shots to choose from. I also found that coming up with a good ideas and concepts that fits the song can be harder than I had originally thought as not only does each concept have to be realistically achievable but it should also look professional, for example a music video is not likely to be shot in just any bedroom, it should represent the character/artist. The  most important lesson we have learnt from the preliminary task is how much footage is actually needed. We found that even extra footage we got from keeping the camera rolling from in between takes came in very useful for cut aways. We will definitely do this again as this was successful in the preliminary task.
